Purpose & sustainability in business

Together with Rüdiger Röhrig from Sustainable Growth Associates, I discussed sustainability in companies as a shared challenge.

For me, the meaning behind what I do, both as an individual and as a company or employee, is essential. A meaning that serves a greater whole, the Earth, or even better, our lives on Earth.

The Natural Step provides a wonderful definition of sustainability in relation to the environment, society, and the business world.

Since the only way to bring about active change may come from humanity, the topic of social sustainability has become increasingly important to me.

Every person has the opportunity to be an important part of our society.

In my view, if society is fulfilled, then caring for our environment and a healthy business world will follow automatically.

A clear and meaningful purpose, whether personal or professional, is, in my view, a crucial motivator for initiating important innovations and ensuring future viability. It's about having the right solutions to remain well-positioned even in uncertain times.

But equally important in our personal lives is a sense of purpose, perhaps a life's purpose, a clear understanding of our own values, helping us shape our lives and find fulfillment.
